DAHLIA POT TUBERS- demand is extremely high this year and we are rapidly running short of  varieties which is making it difficult to keep the web site up to date! In the event of a variety becoming sold out we will, rather than substitute, supply 3 mini plants per tuber at a later date (end March/mid April) unless otherwise stated on order.

We are now taking orders for the 2012 season-for delivery periods please read through these terms and conditions. If you wish to place an order please either order through the secure ‘shopping cart' facility or print out a blank order form and fill it in.

You can then either submit your order by e-mail or post it to us, including payment by cheque, postal order or credit card details, to:

IN ALL CASES WE REQUIRE PAYMENT WITH ORDER PLEASE. Credit cards will be debited on receipt of order. We accept Mastercard, Visa, Switch & Delta

We regret we are unable to accept telephone orders.

All orders will be acknowledged by e-mail and by post generally within 7-10 days. Please check that we have your details recorded correctly to ensure you receive your plants safely. Please quote the acknowledgement number on your posted confirmation in any correspondence or for any enquiries.

Prices quoted apply until May 2012.

GUARANTEE : To ensure your plants reach you in the best condition we aim to deliver within one day of dispatch by using FIRST CLASS POST. We guarantee to replace or refund in full the cost of any plants should they fail to satisfy on arrival, providing they are returned immediately. Beyond this we can in no way accept responsibility for growth, production or crop. If we don't know you have a problem, we can't resolve to put it right.

SUBSTITUTES : We try to keep the website up to date by indicating varieties that are SOLD OUT. In the event of a variety being sold out or unavailable at time of despatch, we reserve the right to substitute a similar variety, unless requested otherwise. Please indicate clearly in the comments box.  

LAST DATE FOR ORDERING : Our cut off date for ordering specific varieties is April 10th. After this date we are only able to accept orders for our special collections or on the basis that substitutes are acceptable.

DELIVERY TIME: Please indicate clearly the delivery period required according to the facilities you have available. We do our best to supply within the period required and notified on the order acknowledgent sent by post. We are unable to inform you when delivery is actually being made and would kindly ask that you notify us of any periods that you are not able to take delivery

CARRIAGE & PACKING : UK mainland only. The online order system only allows us to show a standard price per order. The following tariff will apply unless customers are collecting from the nursery (in this case if paying via the secure online payment system the carriage charge will be refunded):-

STANDARD C&P - £6.50 per order except where only seeds are ordered in which case there will be a charge of £1.00 per order

Please note ; we are unable to send tubers and young plants together. We ask that you submit separate orders for each delivery date required. If in doubt, please contact our office.

EXPORT : We are able to export Chrysanthemums, Dahlia mini plants and Tubers to most European countries (EU members only). Sorry but we can only send Pot Grown Dahlias to mainland UK.

Tubers can be exported to many other countries where allowed. Please note separate carriage charges will apply and in some cases Import permits and Phytosanitary certificates will be required. Full details of our export charges will be detailed as soon as possible. In the meantime please e-mail us your address details and we will add you to the export mailing list.

Carriage for orders to Europe- Dahlia Mini Plants and Chrysanthemums-sent by AIRSURE with delivery within2-4 days. 1-12 plants £9.95, 13-24 plants £13.95, 25-50 plants £19.95. Maximum number of plants sent this way is 50. We can also send by International Courier with delvivery within 1-2days. Cost of this will be £30.00 for up to 35 plants and £45.00 for up to 100 plants.

Tubers to Europe are sent AIRSURE. at a cost of £11.95 for 1-8 tubers, £16.95 for 9-16 tubers and £4.95 for each additional 8 tubers.

COLLECTION OF ORDERS : Customers can collect their orders at our West Heddon Nurseries, but not on a Monday or Tuesday. There will be no carriage charge in this case and if paying via the secure online system we will refund the carriage charge.  We will advise you accordingly when plants are ready for collection. We cannot accept responsibility for orders not collected on the day specified. 

All plants are rooted to order and because of this we need 5 weeks notice of plant requirements-particularly for specific varieties. However a selection of Chrysanthemum and Dahlias will be available in our plant sales area from mid March and mid April respectively.

DAHLIAS

All varieties have been thoroughly tested on the nurseries and they are offered with complete confidence. Classification: The classification on Dahlias is based on the NDS Classified Directory 2011, 31st Edition (effective for the 2012 Show Season). Some varieties of recent introduction have not yet been classified, so we have included them in what we consider to be the correct classification after trial on the nursery.

Dahlias are offered in 3 forms:

DAHLIA POT TUBERS : The tubers we offer are dahlias which have been grown for a full season in the confines of a 4” or 5” pot, so that a small compact tuber is produced. They are ideal material for the exhibitor with a heated greenhouse or propagator to enable their own propagation. Tubers are available from DECEMBER to FEBRUARY and are packed in polythene sleeves with vermiculite. We strongly advise unpacking on arrival and if necessary store tubers in a cool frost free environment until required for setting away. A minimum of 50F (10 C) is required for propagation, water sparingly until growth is evident.Should any tuber fail to have shown any signs of growth by the end of March then please contact us so we can aim to organise replacements as rooted cuttings. PLEASE NOTE- pot tubers cannot be despatched with Mini plants, pot grown or Chrysanthemums due to differing availability times. Please submit seperate orders.

DAHLIA MINI PLANTS : These are strong rooted cuttings for those customers who have the facilities for potting up and growing on under glass, minimum 50F (10 C). Delivery is during APRIL to MAY only. We will make every effort to supply during the week requested but orders must be in the office at least FIVE WEEKS BEFORE the order is required. No Mini Plant orders (except for our special collections) are accepted after 10 th April.

POT GROWN PLANTS : For delivery to mainland UK only. Available end May/early June only these are grown in a 7cm "paper" pot and are "garden ready". They can safely be planted straight out into the garden after a couple of days acclimatising and as long as all risk of frost is over.

 

CHRYSANTHEMUMS

Prices quoted are for strong rooted cuttings which are ready for dispatch from  FEBRUARY to JUNE. Plants will be supplied according to the facilities for protection from frost that the customer has available as follows:-

NO PROTECTION – not before end April in the South. Not before early May in the Midlands , North of England and in Scotland .

COLD GREENHOUSE or COLD FRAME. – Not before the beginning of April.

HEATED GREENHOUSE – Not before the middle of February.

Cuttings are taken to order – so please allow a minimum of 5 weeks to process your order.
